ASRC – PLEASE KEEP DONATING FOOD ONLINE!

    Date:

With lockdown restrictions, we have limited channels for receiving food donations, but demand for food shows no sign of slowing. We are supporting more than 1100 people with essential food and hygiene items. Almost half of them are children.

If you are able to help, Coles is delivering twice a week, and delivery is FREE for orders over $50. Here’s how:

If you’d like to support local small business AND people seeking asylum, we’ve partnered with @YourGrocer.com.au for online food shopping too!

    Thank you for your support!

Note: We are open during lockdown as an essential service for people seeking asylum and refugees. You can travel more than 5km to visit the ASRC Footscray for food, medical attention, housing support and other basic needs. Please call 03 9326 6066 to make an appointment ahead of your visit (hours 10am – 5pm, Monday to Friday).

Our content is a labour of love, crafted by dedicated volunteers who are passionate about the west. We encourage submissions from our community, particularly stories about your own experiences, family history, local issues, your suburb, community events, local history, human interest stories, food, the arts, and environmental matters. Below are articles created by community contributors. You can find their names in the bylines.

    Did you know?

It's hard to find local stories because major news suppliers have economised by cutting local journalism. In addition, social media algorithms mean we have to work doubly hard to be seen.

If you loved reading this article please consider donating to the Westsider. Support from you gives local writers an outlet and ensures an independent voice can be found in the west.

If you're a business or community group, consider advertising in print or online, or becoming a community partner.
