    The Westsider story

    The Westsider is a not-for-profit, monthly community newspaper, written by volunteers and delivered to locations across Melbourne's west each month.

    Founded in 2014, the paper has grown from it's original grassroots funding to a much loved publication in the west.

    Our mission

    Our mission is to be an accessible and relevant advocate for the people, places, organisations and activities of Melbourne’s west.

    Our purpose

    Our purpose is to nurture a cycle of awareness, engagement, interaction and participation within the local community.

    Print-focused, people first

    We print and deliver up to 10,000 editions every month.
    You can subscribe to get a digital edition by email, or browse more than 2,500 articles on this site.

    Purpose beyond profit

    The Westsider is an independent not-for-profit community newspaper.

    We are supported by Local Impact who provide essential business services, operational support and funding.

    Local Impact's purpose is to grow community ideas through participation, support and connection in Melbourne’s inner west.
