Brimbank City Council’s Be Bold Festival brings art and culture to Melbourne’s western suburbs! The festival brings together people of all different walks of life who live, work and play in Brimbank. Celebrate our diverse community through music, art, interactive workshops, children’s activities, bilingual storytime, food and culture.
The festival kicks off with cultural performances by Djirri Djirri Dancers, PICAA, Pearl Afrikulture Rhythms, Wiradjuri singer-songwriter Ruby Mae, L2R Dance and MC Candy Bowers, alongside a Bowery Theatre line-up including Resonate Acoustic: Youth Music Showcase, a weaving workshop with Mata’ala Pasifika Weave Mamas and Dance Lab Live with Sheena Chundee. Food lovers can enjoy global cooking demos in the Cultural Kitchen with Cultivating Community, a range of food vendors, and the St Albans Food Tour, while families can explore a huge range of creative workshops and activities – from Cortex’s immersive inflatable installation to nature art, printmaking, lantern-making, neon wearable art, yarn and stitch, floral funscapes, storytelling and more, plus facepainting and roving entertainment.
Don’t miss Marc Sorbello’s exhibition Colourful Stories in the Bowery Gallery, with a celebration from 5–6pm, before the day wraps up with dancing to DJ Prince Zade, entertainment by The Huxleys, and a Lantern Parade celebrating the mid-Autumn (Full Moon) festival.
