In the last decade the City of Wyndham has emerged as one of Victoria’s most dynamic and fast-growing economic destinations due to relative affordability, and access to major transport corridors.
The municipality is one of Australia’s expanding local government areas and Wyndham continues to attract new residents and families, skilled workers and enterprises with the City now home to over 38,000 GST-registered businesses.
Wyndham’s strategic location between Melbourne’s CBD, Avalon Airport and key freight corridors together with strong population growth and key investments have positioned the City, with clear advantages for businesses.
Industrial precincts across the municipality continue to attract domestic and international investment, while town centres such as Werribee, Point Cook, Tarneit and Truganina are evolving into commercial and employment hubs in their own right.
Recent data highlights Wyndham as one of Victoria’s leading growth areas for business registrations, up 61% between 2020-2024 (faster than Greater Melbourne 13.2%), and local jobs grew by 5.9% per year between 2019-2024 (Greater Melbourne 3.2%), reinforcing its role as a key contributor to the state’s economy.
Top industries by employment and economic contribution are transport, postal and warehousing, healthcare and social assistance, retail trade, education and training, and construction, supported by a strong entrepreneurial network.
Wyndham’s diverse and growing population of 337,000 residents, with over 48% of residents born overseas has been a powerful driver of local enterprise, with a thriving mix of micro and small businesses contributing to the developing Wyndham market.
The demographic composition of Wyndham has certainly brought a vibrant and positive business culture, with a significant uptake of Wyndham based entrepreneurs, startups and community innovators bringing their varied business ideas to fruition.
This growth has also enabled the formation of many new business associations and networking groups that support locals, encourage connections and collaborations and strengthen the business community that shapes Wyndham’s economy and future sustainability.
The WYNnovation Business Expo on Thursday 7 May 2026, from 8.30am to 5pm, is set to bring together businesses, leaders and innovators from across the region to think globally and act locally with a huge day of inspiring talks, expert-led sessions, workshops and business-to-business connections.
The Expo will feature more than 50 local exhibitors spanning industries such as professional services, creative industries, education, health, manufacturing, emerging technologies and government services. Attendees can expect a diverse program of speakers, practical talks and experiences including Victoria University’s Skills on Wheels; a pop-up salon offering free haircuts by its Werribee TAFE students, and CPR training with paramedicine students inside a VU ambulance.
Among the exhibitors is EQ Leaders, a Wyndham based, award winning provider of equine assisted leadership programs that build emotional intelligence, communication and trust. At the WYNnovation Business Expo, EQ Leaders will deliver a free live leadership simulation where horses provide immediate, unbiased feedback – offering a powerful and eye-opening insight into authentic leadership that few traditional programs can match.
Winner of the 2025 Wyndham Business Award Excellence in Education and Training EQ Leaders offer a fresh way to build emotionally intelligent and resilient leaders albeit in an unconventional way: with horses – highly perceptive herd animals, that respond immediately and honestly to human behaviour. A participant who tries to dominate or control the horse may meet resistance, while one who communicates calmly and confidently is more likely to earn trust and cooperation.
The WYNnovation Business Expo 2026 reflects Wyndham City’s commitment to fostering, enabling and investing in Wyndham’s local businesses and its entrepreneurial community.
