Community Announcement from Greater Western Water

Date:

Greater Western Water’s Thriving Communities grants program is back for 2026, offering funding to help local groups deliver projects, events and initiatives that strengthen community connection across the Greater Western Water region, including right here, in Melbourne’s West.

The program supports a broad range of activities, including water-saving initiatives, family and multicultural events and community care programs.

Recent examples of successful grants were the Thrive: Edge Ensembles Show by Western Edge Youth Arts, Carols in Gardens by Footscray Yarraville City Band, NAIDOC Week Family Day hosted by the Footscray Hockey Club and Show Your West-Side Art Exhibition by the Footscray Traders Association.

The Thriving Communities funding strengthens our region by supporting diversity, enhancing livability and sustainability, and fostering a more connected community.

Don’t miss your chance to be a part of Thriving Communities; applications are open now and close 22 April.

There are two types of funding opportunities you may be eligible for; the first being a small community-led events and programs of up to $5000 and the second, larger community-led projects of up to $20,000.

It's hard to find local stories because major news suppliers have economised by cutting local journalism. In addition, social media algorithms mean we have to work doubly hard to be seen.
