COCKTAIL OF THE MONTH – BY TROUBLE IN DREAMS

    Date:

    European Oils

Looking to take your Old-Fashioned game to the next level? You can layer in extra flavour complexity by using a split base of different spirits. This take on the Old-Fashioned from forthcoming Footscray bar Trouble in Dreams splits the base spirit three ways between rye whiskey, cognac and funky pot-still rum.

    Ingredients

    • 20 ml rye whiskey
    • 20 ml cognac
    • 20 ml Jamaican pot-still rum
    • 5 ml Fernet-Branca
    • 7.5 ml maple syrup
    • Twist of orange peel, for garnish

    Method

Place ingredients into a mixing glass. Add ice and stir until thoroughly chilled and diluted (around 30 seconds). Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice. Express the oils from the orange peel over the drink and place the twist in the drink as a garnish.

Trouble in Dreams is a new cocktail and wine-focused bar opening in early 2020 at 297 Barkly St, Footscray (behind Pie Thief). Find it on Facebook or Instagram.
