Your taxes going on dead trees?

Driving around Hobsons Bay I have noticed an increasing number of dead or dying council-planted trees along nature strips. I just wonder why the council bothers to spend our money on planting trees if they don’t look after them to make sure they survive? Yes, we need more trees but preferably alive ones!!!

Thanks Maribyrnong Council

I accidentally stumbled across some great gigs at Kindred Studios in Yarraville recently. These FREE events feature wonderful Melbourne musicians every Thursday afternoon and they’re really good. I was told that Maribyrnong Council funds these concerts to help support the local music scene. If that’s true I would like to thank the council wholeheartedly. Please help to spread the word too as I’m sure more people would attend if they knew about them.

Social media responses to our story about Greater Western Water complaints continuing to rise

I didn’t receive bills for 1.5 years, then received 4 within a few days. Plus they’ve all been 200% higher than normal. Everyone needs to complain to the ombudsman – this has been going on (for my home) for over 2 years and still going…

How about you get your ducks in a row and stop overcharging people for your mistakes? It’s not easy to pay a $300 bill when they combine different bills because of your lack of organization, specially in this cost of living crisis!

It is impossible to keep track of the bills that seem to come at random times. One bill had a credit the next was over $600 ..typical that the state govt *changed the law to allow the bills to be backdated! Once again we are the ones dealing with the failures.

*Editor’s Note – The Victorian government did not change the law, but the state’s regulator — the Essential Services Commission — approved temporary exceptions to the Water Industry Standards to manage Greater Western Water’s extended billing system delays. Under normal rules, water companies are generally restricted to a four-month limit on back-billing for undercharged or delayed bills. However, the temporary exemptions allow Greater Western Water to recover charges older than four months.
