Councils need to help the transition to EV cars and trucks
Councils in the West now need to [address] how those who do not have off-street parking, charge their vehicle at home or during weekly routines. Other municipalities such as Port Phillip are already ahead on this.
For residents without off-street parking, councils can approve safe kerbside gully trenches or private underground pop-up sockets to run home electricity across the footpath without creating public trip hazards.
Alternatively, drivers can utilize public utility pole-mounted chargers, join local driveway-sharing apps, or use public destination chargers at supermarkets and commercial fast-charging hubs during regular weekly routines.

Bombs away in Hobsons Bay!
MOBIL, it’s great that you are working on your site, BUT!! what the heck… at around 2am on the 19th of July explosions rocked my house.
I live in South Kingsville and getting onto socials I see messages from Spotswood, Newport, and further afield which mention lots of sirens and calls to emergency. I also see that you informed some residents, but as far as I can see not us here in South Kingsville.
Why didn’t you do a better job at telling us and did you need to do it so early in the morning? From what others have said your information cited 5am as the incident time.
How are state and local governments ok with all this, at this time of the morning, without good information?

Subpar Bayfit?
Someone needs to have a good long look at Bayfit Gym in North Altona. Owned by Hobsons Bay Council, run by Bluefit. The whole facility is falling apart and both parties are sitting on their hands.
There are many, many issues with the facility – last upgrade works were in 2006–07. Council is dragging its feet in getting any work done, there is an issue with council responding to upgrading/maintaining the facility. Seems to be the same management of issues as Laverton, not enough effort to maintain and upgrade results in sub-standard facilities.
Here are a couple of current issues – the warm water pool, used by a broad section of the community, has been leaking, and has been out of action since early May 2026. HBCC and Bluefit are in no hurry to fix this.
Also the car-park has almost no lighting, unsafe for female patrons to use. Too small and also shared by the Badminton Centre. There appears to be no plan to fix this oversight.
Something needs to be done and hopefully you can start asking some questions.
