INNER WEST FESTIVALS COME ALIVE IN MARCH

    Date:

It’s that time of year again, where the Inner West comes alive with festivals. It’s been a long wait for locals to come together in person and celebrate. March is jam packed with fun from The Yarraville Festival, Brooklyn’s Out & About Festival to West Footscray’s Festival of Colours.

    Out & About Festival

This is a family-friendly festival, held over two big days across Altona North and Brooklyn. Tanya George, Voice Australia contestant and Hobsons Bay regular will be performing, as well as much-loved children’s entertainers The Mik Maks. There are local food trucks, face painting and a bit of friendly competition with barefoot bowls.

    Date: 4th – 5th March 2022
    Time: Friday – 5pm – 9pm, Saturday 11am – 4pm
Location: Paisley Park, Altona North and Brooklyn Reserve

    Festival of Colours

The Festival of Colours also known as Holi and for its tradition of ‘throwing of the colours’, celebrates the many cultures that call West Footscray home. “It has been a long 2 years but we have persevered and can’t wait for the community and Traders to join in the celebrations this year,” says Pradeep Tiwari, President of the West Footscray Traders Association. Expect a wonderful array of food, flavours, live music, dance, roving entertainment and local fun.

Date: Sunday 20th of March 2022
    Time: 11am – 5pm
    Location: Barkly Village, West Footscray

    The Yarraville Festival

The Yarraville Festival is famous for its Dog Parade, where our four legged best friends get dressed up. Judges award prizes to the best dressed pooch or the one with the best act. Visit to enjoy a day of live music and entertainment, local traders and small business stall holders and rides for the kids.

Our content is a labour of love, crafted by dedicated volunteers who are passionate about the west. We encourage submissions from our community, particularly stories about your own experiences, family history, local issues, your suburb, community events, local history, human interest stories, food, the arts, and environmental matters. It's hard to find local stories because major news suppliers have economised by cutting local journalism. In addition, social media algorithms mean we have to work doubly hard to be seen.
