Steve Miller is a Provisional Psychologist with experience across aged care, community services, disability, mental health and forensic services. He has previously worked as a Mental Health Clinician in multiple organisations throughout central and regional Victoria.
Steve has skills and interests in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Schema Therapy. He is especially interested in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).
He has worked with a diverse array of client presentations within a clinical context. Prior to being granted Provisional Registration, Steve worked for several years in a variety of roles within the disability sector (e.g., Disability Support Worker, Mental Health Support Worker & Forensic Support Worker). He completed his Honours thesis on the Effects of Acute Stress on Learning and Decision Making.
Steve has a keen interest in working people with complex traumatic histories and personality disorders, in particular Borderline Personality Disorder. Furthermore, he is also greatly interested in the assessment, intervention and treatment of Cognitive Impairment, Anxiety, Depression and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder across the lifespan.
A cinemaphile and a total foodie, Steve is a very welcome addition to the Western Health Collective team and we look forward to introducing him to the magnificent Sun Theatre (best theatre in Melbourne) and the local food haunts. Tips for where to send him in the west welcomed!
