    YARRAVILLE FESTIVAL

    Date:

An integral westside affair since 1981, the Yarraville Festival is a highly anticipated event that showcases our community’s strengths and talents. This iconic festival embraces the cultural diversity, industrious nature and artistic air of the west attracting people from all over Melbourne to join in its engaging environment. With five stages of entertainment, a petting zoo, local stalls, local artists, and a bevy of cuisine, this isn’t a day to be missed. Yarraville Festival is on Sunday 18 February, in the heart of the Yarraville Village.

Main Stage – JVG Guitar method

The JVG Guitar Method are a high energy high concept cabaret art rock dance experience. Jon Von Goes from 3RRR fronts the act that cannot exist without all four members.

Yarravillian Mark Ferrie, of the Rockwiz Orchestra, the Models and many more historic bands plays guitar, and not his usual bass. Ash Davies, from Yarraville, is one of the most sought after drummers in the country. That’s coz he’s one of the best. Dale Lindrea on bass and vocals is from a very unusual place. The Guitar Method are a very, very entertaining band and will be playing on the Main Stage at 6pm.

    Phoenix Youth Stage

‘Home to the Maribyrnong Youth Services, The Phoenix Youth Hub welcomes all young people inclusive of race, disability, gender, age, culture, religion, sexuality and family structure. It is a place where young people can hangout, get involved in fun activities and run their own events.’

Phoenix Youth Stage will be showcasing that exact thing with an array of exciting entertainment from a dance troupe, DJ, live bands, and the winner of the Maribyrnong Youth Services’ FReeZA Push Start competition, rapper P-Unique, nurtured much like some of the other performers by Maribyrnong Youth Services’ hip hop program Raw Elements (main picture, image by Liam Davidson of Lord Media)

    Community Stage – Dog Show

One of three families in Yarraville have a pet. It’s no wonder the Yarraville Festival Dog Show is one of our most popular events on the day. Organized this year by Yarraville Village Animal Hospital, Urban Paws doggy Daycare and For My Petz pet supplies, it’s going to prove to be the best one yet! So if you’re a fan of pudgy pups, puffy poodles and pampered pugs, hit the Community Stage at 11.20am, Sunday 18 February.

It's hard to find local stories because major news suppliers have economised by cutting local journalism. In addition, social media algorithms mean we have to work doubly hard to be seen.
