Campaigning in this month’s state election is in full swing, and the pollies are ratcheting up their spiels across all forms of media. Clearly, they’re desperate for our ears and eyeballs. But how does one make sense of all the promises, claims and counter claims they’re making?
Well, if it’s true that all politics is local, then this month’s Westside Spotlight is worth your time. Last month the Melbourne Press Club convened its Westside Stories Business, Politics and Community Summit at the Bowery Theatre in St Albans. The event brought together some of the west’s key business, local government, media and cultural leaders to discuss the issues and opportunities facing our region. Listen in, the discussions might provide the clarifying lens you need to help you decide which party or independents will best champion the West in parliament.
There are five episodes scheduled across 16-20 November, 1.00pm each day. Episode one sets the scene with the summit’s keynote speech given by local business woman and entrepreneur Julia Truong, followed by a live performance from local musicians Ray and Lucky Perera. The remaining episodes, in order, are the business, mayors, arts and media panels. The series will also be available to listen back to on our website.
Happy listening.
