THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER

    Date:

The next instalment in the Marvel series is streaming on Disney+. As soon as WandaVision concluded, this one started to fill our cravings for more MCU.

This series has a much more intense feeling. I have previously said that WandaVision didn’t feel like a Marvel production but Falcon and the Winter Soldier has so many comparisons to the other movies, Civil War especially. So far two episodes have been released and I am loving it. It’s essentially a buddy cop drama but it has its own Marvel twist as per usual, but there is a deeper layer too it. Without going into too much detail, the story is about Falcon handing back the shield because he knows he can’t live up to it. Bucky, aka ‘The Winter Soldier’ is trying to build a normal life, but both are now forced to work together as they come from the far opposite sides of Captain Steve Rogers life. The main theme for this show is ‘meeting expectations’, because with the events of Endgame over there is no real big threat. Each of their personal lives are now in focus, which has never really been done in Marvel; I love this new angle. I am completely in awe of this show, I see so many things in common with the MCU films, but it somehow feels so new. Maybe it’s more like the early Marvel days because the story has no direction as of yet, but I’m looking forward to more.

It's hard to find local stories because major news suppliers have economised by cutting local journalism. In addition, social media algorithms mean we have to work doubly hard to be seen.
