The corner building at Dickson Street and Station Place in Sunshine stands as a quiet reminder of the suburb’s evolving history. Built in 1931 by R.W. Armour, it originally housed Sunshine Motors, a service station that catered to the growing number of motorists.
After Armour’s death, the Dinnell family took over, ensuring the business continued to thrive. The building changed hands several times in the 1960s, adapting to the changing automotive needs of the community. In more recent decades, it became home to Sunshine Mowers, operated by the late Arthur Gore, a respected local businessman and sporting figure, until his passing in 2016.
Since then, the building has remained idle, its grey paint fading as it quietly witnesses Sunshine’s ongoing transformation through public transport redevelopment, awaiting its next chapter.
