Responses to our story on the Champion Road closure
Labor is in very low opinion status in our area now because I think this closure has sealed their fate. We need better representation for the West and what affects our quality of living! Bring on the fence signage and start the campaign now!

I hope everyone remembers this in the state elections. The west has been taken for granted for too long by Labor!

Similar thing will happen to Yarraville village with the impending closure of Anderson st. The Railway Crossing removal Authority is a law unto themselves with no regard to the traffic implications once the main street into the village is closed. As bad as the crossing is, closing it will make it worse.

Seddon says farewell to the Chicken Man

There is a guy on Charles St who has been running the Charcoal Chicken shop for the past 25 or so years. His name is David. Very good man. He won the award for Best Chips in all of Melbourne a few years ago, not an easy accolade to win. He has sold the business and tomorrow (Saturday April 18) after 25 yrs of serving the Seddon Community, is his last day. He has been very kind to many people over the years. A very generous man, who even provided food to customers that could not pay him . They would always say “Can I pay you next fortnite David” and next fortnite would come and they would give little , but David always gave. The Seddon shopping strip will be poorer without you David … a true treasure. We will all miss you David!!

Are royals just a bunch of grifters?
With the recent Harry and Megan visit to Australia (and Footscray!!) we witnessed lots of goodwill for the couple. We also heard an array of various commentators condemning them, and all royals, as grifters. For many years I have considered myself a republican, certainly not a monarchist but, I think it’s interesting to note that of the world’s top ten democracies six are constitutional or parliamentary monarchies, and of the top 20, ten are monarchies. All of these countries also rate in the top 20 countries ranked for standard of living. So rather than dismiss monarchies and royals out of hand, wouldn’t it be more constructive to investigate what makes them so successful? They seem to be doing something right.

Appalling the Champion Road closure.
Yarraville Village Railway Gates dismantling – lets in SOLIDARITY meet march to-gether calmly and HAVE this “proposal” ceased.
It will be the ruinination of the Village atmosphere of Yarraville Village.
Mall it, from the present gates back to the end of the present shops.
The “other” sides of the present gates bus station – leave as is.
Circa early 1960’s – we had an underneath the railway tracks in Anderson street a predestrian walk way that when having your tickets checked at he exit of Yarraville Station by the Stationmaster or his Assistant – leaving the station to walk to Williamstown end of Anderson Street, you descended the station walked under the tracks then up the steps to-wards Williamstown Road.
Those on a train from Williamstown/Altona – same applied to them if they needed to walk from the station to the main Yarraville Shoping Center, down the subway then up and you are on and in Anderson Street.
No waiting for the Boom Gates to Rise or in those Days, the Single Box operators who always had a wave and smile – to open the gates again the train having arrived or departed – just use the Subway.
Heavy rain in winter – proned to over-flow at times.
WHY – was the Public Under the Rails Subway ever filled in ?
WHAT an asset it would be for train travellers and “other” in these times.
Don’t de-face – Don’t SMASH the character of Yarraville Village with this idea of under-ground transport mobility.
Waste again of tax payers money that living as we do in Australia in a DEMOCRACY the “Creed” of Democracy is Dialogue and in the Yarraville Station/Anderson Street “plans” of a New Face – DIALOGUE by all parties involved in this wrongful decision has NOT been AFFORDED to COMMUNITY tax Payers – who from our broad canvassing – who DO Not – OBJECT what the Government are TELLING Us – is COMING.
Character, history, environment retainment and NOT centered on – what’s BEST firstly for comfort ease of Motor Transportation needs.& operation – then the General Public and Shop & Business Holders – the environment atmosphere – relegated to being a distant second – in the State Government of Victoria – there idiotic thoughts process.
The “planned” change of the Yarraville Village Railway Gates won’t – SPEED up Rail Passenger Services.
The “planned” changes will cater for Transport and Private Vehicle movement & mobility – in and out through the Anderson Shopping Center.
It will be SUFFOCATED by vehicle – transportation and private vehicle usage.
HOPEFULLY – we as Community, as tax payers – Orderly in Solidarity have CHANGES that we believe best suits us as a community, for the shop keepers and that retain the pleasantness – the environment of a village that is the Yarraville Village.
