Responses to our story on the Champion Road closure
Labor is in very low opinion status in our area now because I think this closure has sealed their fate. We need better representation for the West and what affects our quality of living! Bring on the fence signage and start the campaign now!

I hope everyone remembers this in the state elections. The west has been taken for granted for too long by Labor!

Similar thing will happen to Yarraville village with the impending closure of Anderson st. The Railway Crossing removal Authority is a law unto themselves with no regard to the traffic implications once the main street into the village is closed. As bad as the crossing is, closing it will make it worse.

Seddon says farewell to the Chicken Man

There is a guy on Charles St who has been running the Charcoal Chicken shop for the past 25 or so years. His name is David. Very good man. He won the award for Best Chips in all of Melbourne a few years ago, not an easy accolade to win. He has sold the business and tomorrow (Saturday April 18) after 25 yrs of serving the Seddon Community, is his last day. He has been very kind to many people over the years. A very generous man, who even provided food to customers that could not pay him . They would always say “Can I pay you next fortnite David” and next fortnite would come and they would give little , but David always gave. The Seddon shopping strip will be poorer without you David … a true treasure. We will all miss you David!!

Are royals just a bunch of grifters?
With the recent Harry and Megan visit to Australia (and Footscray!!) we witnessed lots of goodwill for the couple. We also heard an array of various commentators condemning them, and all royals, as grifters. For many years I have considered myself a republican, certainly not a monarchist but, I think it’s interesting to note that of the world’s top ten democracies six are constitutional or parliamentary monarchies, and of the top 20, ten are monarchies. All of these countries also rate in the top 20 countries ranked for standard of living. So rather than dismiss monarchies and royals out of hand, wouldn’t it be more constructive to investigate what makes them so successful? They seem to be doing something right.
