RECOGNISING THE VALUE OF OUR VOLUNTEERS DURING DIFFICULT TIMES

    Date:

Yarraville Community Centre (YCC) is continuing to work hard to keep students and community engaged, connected and learning remotely throughout this difficult period.

Volunteers make a huge contribution to the community and the centre. Volunteering helps develop new skills, valuable experiences and most importantly social connection.

YCC have a number of long-term invaluable volunteers who have been with the organisation for many years. Unfortunately some of these volunteers are not able to continue their contribution remotely and they are eagerly waiting for restrictions to lift to get back to doing what they love.

Since remote learning has started for the Education Team, Tess Zanforlin has continued in her volunteering role for up to 15 hours per week and YCC’s students have greatly benefitted from her help, care, compassion and support.

Tess helps students navigate through all the challenges that come with remote learning, especially when this is all new to a lot of students. Tess’s commitment, contact and connection with students is irreplaceable and YCC appreciate her contribution and care.

A big thank to all the volunteers out there. You do a fabulous job.

It's hard to find local stories because major news suppliers have economised by cutting local journalism. In addition, social media algorithms mean we have to work doubly hard to be seen.
