HOBSONS BAY GETS CREATIVE IN ISO

    Date:

Art Apart is the brainchild of Hobsons Bay City Council, an initiative to engage local creatives in lockdown inspired projects.

Films, Winter Window exhibitions and fun driveway chalk play are among the projects taking place across Williamstown, Altona, Newport, Brooklyn, Laverton and further afield.

With an emphasis on projects which did not involve any direct contact an interactive social media project was devised by local artist Alison Peake.

Eye Spy Hobsons Bay operates on Facebook and Instagram platforms and invites local people to display their creative take on being stuck at home. Covering topics a diverse as gardening, knitting, exercise both in and out of doors, photography and baking; the project aims to add some feel good factor to lockdown blues in the depths of a Melbourne winter.

Over the next 8 weeks there will be a series of themes, each with a musical cue for inspiration inviting people to showcase what they are doing and what they are seeing locally. Kicking off with “On the Street Where You Live” accompanied by Nat King Cole this is open to all ages and abilities. It's hard to find local stories because major news suppliers have economised by cutting local journalism. In addition, social media algorithms mean we have to work doubly hard to be seen.
