Creativity and children’s emotional wellbeing: Myra Jindal’s story

Date:

By Deborah Sugirthakumar

Creativity plays an important role in helping children grow, learn, and express themselves. Through art, children can share their feelings, build confidence, and improve their emotional wellbeing. Art also gives children a chance to slow down, use their imagination, and enjoy creating something special.

One young artist showing the power of creativity is Myra Jindal. Her artwork includes pencil drawings, colourful paintings, and creative designs inspired by everyday life.

For Myra, art is a way to share a message with the world. She says, “The thing I enjoy most about art is its power to give the world a message.” Art helps her express her emotions, feelings, and thoughts. Through her drawings and paintings, she can communicate ideas that are important to her.

When asked where she gets her inspiration from, Myra says it comes from everyday life.

She encourages other young artists to believe in themselves.

Her message is simple: “Just trust yourself and be you.”

Myra’s mother, Divya Jindal, believes creative arts are very important for children. She encourages her daughter to take part in art because it allows her to express herself, try new things, and build confidence in a supportive environment.

Divya has seen how proud Myra feels after completing a piece of artwork. She believes these creative experiences have had a positive effect on her emotional wellbeing and self-esteem.

Art has also helped create a healthy balance away from screens. Instead of spending all her free time on devices, Myra enjoys activities that use her imagination and creativity.

Divya has noticed that her daughter is more engaged, happier, and more confident in sharing her ideas and expressing herself.

Creative activities can help children manage their emotions, reduce stress, and build confidence. Art provides a safe space where children can express their thoughts and feelings while developing important life skills.

As Myra prepares for her first exhibition, her story reminds us of the importance of encouraging creativity in children. Whether through drawing, painting, music, dance, or other creative activities, the arts can help children grow into confident, happy, and emotionally healthy young people.

It's hard to find local stories because major news suppliers have economised by cutting local journalism. In addition, social media algorithms mean we have to work doubly hard to be seen.
