    WILLIAMSTOWN LIBRARY TAKES A STAND

    Date:

The Westsider’s News-stand Art Project is coming to Williamstown! Applications are being sought from artists who would like to transform the news-stand, which is currently a blank (orange) canvas.

Editor of The Westsider Newspaper, Derek Green said: “This will help us ensure the people of Williamstown and surrounds know there’s a place they will always find our paper. It’s here for the people of the inner-west, so making sure its accessible is one of our driving factors.”

The stand will be installed in late August.

Artist’s application deadline is Friday August the 9th 5pm. The application form can be requested via Facebook, or emailing editor@thewestsider.com.au. If your organisation would like to participate in the art project by sponsoring a future news-stand, please contact the editor.

Our content is a labour of love, crafted by dedicated volunteers who are passionate about the west. We encourage submissions from our community, particularly stories about your own experiences, family history, local issues, your suburb, community events, local history, human interest stories, food, the arts, and environmental matters. Below are articles created by community contributors. You can find their names in the bylines.

    Did you know?

It's hard to find local stories because major news suppliers have economised by cutting local journalism. In addition, social media algorithms mean we have to work doubly hard to be seen.

If you loved reading this article please consider donating to the Westsider. Support from you gives local writers an outlet and ensures an independent voice can be found in the west.

If you're a business or community group, consider advertising in print or online, or becoming a community partner.
