    WESTSIDE SEAGULL – BURGERS

    Date:

Do you like burgers? Well, who doesn’t! Whether they be the traditional meat burger or the vegetarian alternative, all just seem to magically disappear when you find a good one. The Westsider has been on the hunt for some of the best burgers the west can provide and after wolfing down as many as possible in the limited time before the crunch time arrives, three were shortlisted and reviewed for your convenience.

    8bit

Located in Footscray, 8 Bit is a popular hamburger, milkshake, fries and hotdog restaurant/bar. At first you might be scared off by the queue but don’t worry, it moves fast. The atmosphere is easy going and laid back. It’s always busy but the food and especially the burgers are worth the wait. They have to be amongst the best burgers in the west. Their selection of beef, chicken and vegetarian burgers are great, with numerous side dishes of cheese & bacon fries, chili cheese fries, and crispy onion rings. Try the ‘Altered Beast’. The meat is juicy, the lettuce crunchy but the sauce is particularly mouth watering – you could even use more of it on the side.

Whatever you choose to have, it will be a new experience. It is hard to come across a good consistent burger. 8bit have quality ingredients and a burger that is put together well and delivered fast . 8bit could become your favourite burger joint.

    The Station Hotel

Ordering a burger is perhaps not the first thought when visiting one of Melbourne’s premier steak restaurants, but for those who prefer their meat between layers of bun (and are watching their wallet) The Station Hotel is a good choice.

Quality, juicy meat, simple but effective salad that doesn’t distract from the main event, and decadent fat chips – crunchy on the outside yet fluffy inside. Topped with onions rings that will make you cry with joy, this puppy’s worth every dollar.

The burger can be ordered in either the bar or the main restaurant, though reservations are recommended for the latter.

Tip: Although usually reserved for steak dishes, the Bearnaise sauce is a specialty not too be missed, and greatly compliments this burger and the chips.

The Station Hotel is located at 59 Napier St, Footscray.

    Grill’d Point Cook

Grill’d have an outlet of their well-known burger chain in Point Cook. Even if you’re not a big burger person the burgers from Grill’d are highly recommend as there is a range that may suit all tastes. This restaurant is always busy – the atmosphere is crazy but the service is very quick and the servers are very friendly. They have different but cool burger names on the menu; Mighty Melbourne, Summer Sunset, Simon Says and Tuscan Delight – all hit the spot. Vegetarians are catered for, with the Field of Dreams (mushroom) and Friends of Falafel.

The Westsider Seagull recommends the Moroccan Lamb burger. The meat just melts in the mouth and the side of chips makes it even better – you will not be disappointed.

It's hard to find local stories because major news suppliers have economised by cutting local journalism. In addition, social media algorithms mean we have to work doubly hard to be seen.
