VU WESTERN SPURS – THIS GIRL CAN STAY IN BOOTS

    Date:

The VU Western Spurs are a women’s football club in Footscray, whose values are to be inclusive, accountable and successful. They are also a registered supporter of VicHealths ‘This Girl Can’ campaign to encourage more women and girls across Victoria to get active regardless of size, background or ability.

This year they are introducing a ‘stay in boots’ program to encourage previous players to return to the club after a break, retain members who are considering retiring and allowing members to remain socially connected to the club, assist and partake in training drills without requirements to compete on the weekends.

Whether you are coming back to exercise after a break, or joining in for the first time, VU Western Spurs will give you the opportunity to participate.

You can contact the VU Western Spurs via email: spursfooty@gmail.com or facebook.com/westernspurs

Our content is a labour of love, crafted by dedicated volunteers who are passionate about the west. We encourage submissions from our community, particularly stories about your own experiences, family history, local issues, your suburb, community events, local history, human interest stories, food, the arts, and environmental matters. Below are articles created by community contributors. You can find their names in the bylines.

    Did you know?

It's hard to find local stories because major news suppliers have economised by cutting local journalism. In addition, social media algorithms mean we have to work doubly hard to be seen.

If you loved reading this article please consider donating to the Westsider. Support from you gives local writers an outlet and ensures an independent voice can be found in the west.
