VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH KYLE WITHERS (MOVIE REVIEWER AT THE WESTSIDER)

    Date:

Kyle resides in Seabrook but spends most of his time in the inner-west.

His day job is an elevator mechanic, and outside work he is as busy; Wednesday nights volunteering with the Australian Air Force Cadets, while Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays are spent either training, playing or coaching footy for Point Cook Centrals. His biggest pride and joy? His 1972 Mini that you might see cruising around the west.

“My love of movies dates back to watching films at Point Cook RAAF base. To be able to share my love of film with The Westsider community is a dream come true. A huge shout out to everyone at the Sun Theatre for the support and creating a wonderful experience.”

Our content is a labour of love, crafted by dedicated volunteers who are passionate about the west. We encourage submissions from our community, particularly stories about your own experiences, family history, local issues, your suburb, community events, local history, human interest stories, food, the arts, and environmental matters. Below are articles created by community contributors. You can find their names in the bylines.

    Did you know?

It's hard to find local stories because major news suppliers have economised by cutting local journalism. In addition, social media algorithms mean we have to work doubly hard to be seen.

If you loved reading this article please consider donating to the Westsider. Support from you gives local writers an outlet and ensures an independent voice can be found in the west.
