Crikey Roo and the Riddler

by Julie Kay
Crikey Roo and the Riddler is a fun adventure story set in Australia during the 1970s. It’s about a group of kids who love riding their bikes, playing games, and having fun around their neighbourhood.
One day, an old lady asks them for help, and that starts a big mystery. The kids have to solve riddles and look for hidden treasure inside an old house that might be haunted. Along the way, they have lots of funny and exciting moments — like saving their dog and facing bullies. The riddles in the story made me smile — they were clever and playful, just like the kids. And when I read about the Venetian blind, I couldn’t stop laughing. I still have that kind of blind in my house today!
Julie Kay did a wonderful job showing what life was like for kids in the 1970s — playing outside, making up adventures, and getting home before the streetlights came on. It reminded me how simple and happy childhood can be. This book is a great read for anyone who loves mystery, laughter, and good old-fashioned fun.
The Long Night

by Christian White
The Long Night is an exciting thriller. It tells the story of two women, Em and Jodie, whose lives come together during one very scary night.
Em is a young woman who wants love and a better life. She lives with her difficult mother and dreams of leaving her small town. But everything changes when she is kidnapped by a masked man. Her quiet life suddenly becomes dangerous. Jodie is a mother who has tried to forget something terrible that happened twenty years ago. She works hard to keep her mind busy. But when her own daughter goes missing, her old memories return, and she has to face her past again.
As the story moves forward, we learn how Em and Jodie are connected. Their meeting is not an accident. Old secrets come out, and both women must face the truth to make it through the long night. The book is fast, tense, and full of surprises. Christian White writes in a simple but powerful way that keeps you reading. The story feels real, dark, and very emotional. Overall, The Long Night is full of action, easy to follow, and hard to put down.
