Op Shops – Once More, With Feeling – Seddon

    Date:

An amazing second-hand store to kick start your fresh new wardrobe (see above) and this month’s newest discovery, is the store Once More, With Feeling.

In the heart of Seddon, just a seven-minute walk from both Seddon station and Middle Footscray, this store can really only be described with one word: FABULOUS.

Immediately, upon entry, I was blown away by the atmosphere. Without even looking at any clothes, the aesthetics of the store made me feel like I was stepping into the most luxurious and feminine store ever!

It’s not technically an Op Shop, and while it is still a second-hand store its vintage vibe means higher prices. That’s because the goods are more carefully sourced and curated. I guarantee it won’t take hours of sifting through junk to find something you are utterly obsessed with.

Hanging in the window, love at first sight honestly, was the most gorgeous brown suede jacket. Leather braiding all over with fringe detailing on the shoulders.

The next items to really have me regretting my self-inflicted shopping ban was the shoes! Gorgeous kitten heels, ballet flats and boots, unlike any I’ve ever seen in other stores. If you’re a vintage fashion lover, it would be CRIMINAL, not to visit this store.

Whether you like ruffles, or sparkles or lean towards something more plain, you will absolutely not be leaving this store empty handed.

What stopped me dead in my tracks though, was the vintage jewellery and accessories. Beautiful hats and fascinators of all different colours and styles, and stunning jewellery; delicate, beautiful pieces, but also chunky statement pieces. Something for anyone!

Over all, I would 100% recommend visiting this store and making a day of it by stopping in the cafes around the area.

Everyone loves shopping, but with Cozzie Livs, global warming, micro-plastic pollution and overflowing landfills it’s important to find stores that are both affordable and sustainable. The perfect solution to both these problems? The good old Op Shop! For the next few months I’ll be visiting and reviewing Op Shops and second-hand stores from all over the westside and hopefully snare a bargain or two at the same time.

It's hard to find local stories because major news suppliers have economised by cutting local journalism. In addition, social media algorithms mean we have to work doubly hard to be seen.
