FOOD REVIEW – CONVOY, MOONEE PONDS

    Date:

    By Lenetia Stretton

Convoy is a bustling local Moonee Ponds café with a walk-in only policy and a guaranteed queue on weekends waiting for one of their gorgeous outdoor booths or intimate indoor tables.

From the team behind other well-known Naarm institutions such as HiFi and Terror Twilight, the menu is fresh and tasty and the kitchen is pumping. There is also a takeaway coffee window to serve coffee and snacks while you wait for your table, or to grab a little something with the family on your Sunday outing.

Expect some twists on the classics such as their Smashed Avo – served with Black Olive Caramel, Feta, Pickled carrots and Salsa Verde. Or try something experimental such as the Okonomiyaki Waffle: think the best things about Okonomiyaki pressed in to a crispy edged waffle served with pickled ginger, fried egg, and nori crisps – add the side of the perfectly crunchy Salt and Vinegar Potatoes and you have the perfect cure-all Sunday brunch. Feeling fancy? Try the Prawn Roll or Steak Frites Roll with your Mimosa. Perfect for catch ups with friends, special occasions, or even to get some work done during the week in an airy open setting with a coffee in hand.

    Open Mon – Fri 7am to 4pm

Our content is a labour of love, crafted by dedicated volunteers who are passionate about the west. We encourage submissions from our community, particularly stories about your own experiences, family history, local issues, your suburb, community events, local history, human interest stories, food, the arts, and environmental matters. Below are articles created by community contributors. You can find their names in the bylines.

    Did you know?

It's hard to find local stories because major news suppliers have economised by cutting local journalism. In addition, social media algorithms mean we have to work doubly hard to be seen.

If you loved reading this article please consider donating to the Westsider. Support from you gives local writers an outlet and ensures an independent voice can be found in the west.
