COMING SOON TO MARIBYRNONG …… EDGEWATER FARMERS’ MARKET

Come and get a smile and a chat with your shopping when you buy at a farmers’ market.

Slow Food Melbourne Farmers’ Markets have been operating as a social enterprise in Spotswood and West Footscray for over 5 years.

Supporting local sports clubs, 10th Footscray Scouts, Spotswood Primary School and  local charity The West Footscray Op Shop from gold coin donations so generously made by local community they now make the move to Maidstone/Maribyrnong operating as Edgewater Farmers’ Market. After moving from the Abbotsford Convent they have made a conscious decision to focus on providing services to the West and support local food culture.

So mark it in you diary for the Grand Opening market
Saturday March 1st from 9am to 1pm
Maribyrnong Family Park
337 Gordon St Maribyrnong.

We love to be environmentally friendly so we are a plastic bag-free zone and we would love you all to join us in keeping down emissions and reducing traffic congestion by walking or biking to market. Help us look after the planet which is feeding us.

Our content is a labour of love, crafted by dedicated volunteers who are passionate about the west. We encourage submissions from our community, particularly stories about your own experiences, family history, local issues, your suburb, community events, local history, human interest stories, food, the arts, and environmental matters. Below are articles created by community contributors. You can find their names in the bylines.

It's hard to find local stories because major news suppliers have economised by cutting local journalism. In addition, social media algorithms mean we have to work doubly hard to be seen.

If you loved reading this article please consider donating to the Westsider. Support from you gives local writers an outlet and ensures an independent voice can be found in the west.
