Have you ever wanted to hear your music performed live with a string section?
If you’re a songwriter, composer or arranger based in Melbourne’s western suburbs this is your chance.
We’re seeking expressions of interest from local artists to perform with the Inner West Symphony Orchestra string section at the Sun Theatre (The Grand), Yarraville, on Monday August 24, as part of a special community fundraiser.
Selected artists will perform an original work with the IWSO strings, collaborate with experienced musicians and arrangers, and present their music in one of the West’s most iconic venues. All styles are welcome, from indie and jazz to classical and experimental.
This event is part of a growing series of inner west music nights across venues including Yarraville Social Hall, Cornershop and Outside Alfa, connecting local artists and audiences through diverse, high-quality live music.
The fundraiser aims to raise $5,000 for a quality PA system and sound treatment to help revitalise the community hall at the Yarraville Senior Citizens Centre / Trugo Club at Beaton Reserve. Reimagined as the Yarraville Social Hall, the space aims to become a community music hub hosting ‘dinner and show’ events with a community hour.
The first Yarraville Social Hall event takes place July 18, featuring Rebecca Barnard & Nick Barker, Ray Pereira & Shane O’Mara, Ash Davies, Luke O’Conner, plus dinner by James Cornwall.
