    COMMUNITY YOUTH THEATRE PROJECT

    Date:

    Footscray edge

The Footscray Edge ensemble is a community youth theatre project, run by not-for-profit organisation, Western Edge Youth Arts.

This project is completely free and invites any aspiring actors, dancers or musicians, aged 16-25, to join the group and make high quality art. Get the chance to share ideas, devise and write an amazing contemporary performance that will be performed in November. Led by experienced theatre director, Penny Harpham, and emerging artist, Rex Pelman, the weekly workshops delve into creative and fun theatre processes involving different art forms and new media. A great opportunity to learn new skills and meet a talented bunch of people.

Come along – every Wednesday, 4.30pm to 6.30pm at Kindred Studios Film Studio.

Our content is a labour of love, crafted by dedicated volunteers who are passionate about the west. We encourage submissions from our community, particularly stories about your own experiences, family history, local issues, your suburb, community events, local history, human interest stories, food, the arts, and environmental matters. Below are articles created by community contributors. You can find their names in the bylines.

It's hard to find local stories because major news suppliers have economised by cutting local journalism. In addition, social media algorithms mean we have to work doubly hard to be seen.

If you loved reading this article please consider donating to the Westsider. Support from you gives local writers an outlet and ensures an independent voice can be found in the west.
