Meet local artist, Arina Apostolova

Date:

Arina is a full-time mural artist and designer, originally from Ukraine, based in Melbourne. With a background in architecture and a passion for storytelling through visual art, Arina works across a variety of mediums, continually exploring acrylic and oil painting on canvas alongside her large-scale public murals.

Arina’s artistic journey began with her first solo exhibition in Shanghai in 2021, where she presented her acrylic collection Sacred Geometry. Since then, she has become deeply immersed in the world of mural painting, particularly nature-inspired public art. Her work celebrates Australia’s unique landscapes, flora and fauna, often incorporating native plants and animals specific to the location. Each mural is informed by thorough research and reflects the identity of its environment and community.

In 2025, Arina was honoured with the People’s Choice Award at the Frankston Street Art Festival, recognising her mural as a standout favourite among the public. In her studio practice, Arina continues to evolve her oil painting techniques and has sold works internationally, including in China, Malaysia, the USA, France, Italy, and Australia. She describes her style as Composite Realism — a fusion of hyper-realistic elements with abstract patterns, surreal dreamscapes, and symbolic imagery.

Nature is a constant source of inspiration for Arina, and through her art, she invites viewers to reconnect with the beauty and stories of the natural world.

Arina’s work will be on exhibit at the Community Bank Seddon from 1st June – 1st August. Visitors are welcome Monday – Friday, 9.30am – 4.00pm

It's hard to find local stories because major news suppliers have economised by cutting local journalism. In addition, social media algorithms mean we have to work doubly hard to be seen.
