    Meet local artist, Candy Ng

    Date:

Melbourne-based full-time artist Candy Ng was once a banker. Originally from Hong Kong, Candy built a successful career in the corporate world, working in mortgages and financial planning. Though she worked hard, after long days she often found herself questioning her life’s purpose.

It wasn’t until a car accident that her direction became clear.

“Life felt too short not to be doing something that truly fires me up,” she says.

Since 2020, Candy has steadily created a new path, led by creativity. In just a few years, Candy has seen rapid growth across all areas of her art business, including exhibitions across different states in Australia and collaborations with over 30 international luxury brands like Prada, Celine, Porsche and Montblanc.

In her studio, Candy paints quiet, poetic moments that celebrate life, vase of wilting flowers, plates of oysters shared with loved ones. Her still life oil paintings are full of gentle light, colour and emotion. They invite viewers to pause, reflect, and find joy in the little things.

Outside the studio, Candy is one of Australia’s most in-demand live event fashion illustrators, adding a personal and elegant touch to events through stylish guest illustrations and personalising products.

Candy’s art has been showcased in exhibitions and hotels across Australia. She believes art has the power to inspire, connect and preserve fleeting moments. Through her work, she aims to create pieces filled with emotion, beauty and story.

Candy’s work will be on display at Community Bank Seddon from 1st August – 1st October 2025. Visitors are welcome Monday to Friday, 9.30 am to 4.00 pm.

We encourage submissions from our community, particularly stories about your own experiences, family history, local issues, your suburb, community events, local history, human interest stories, food, the arts, and environmental matters. Did you know?

It's hard to find local stories because major news suppliers have economised by cutting local journalism. In addition, social media algorithms mean we have to work doubly hard to be seen.

If you loved reading this article please consider donating to the Westsider. Support from you gives local writers an outlet and ensures an independent voice can be found in the west.
