Well, we do. Fresh from celebrating its first sell-out concert of the year, the Inner West Symphony Orchestra is returning to their favourite venue, the Williamstown Town Hall, to present MYTHIC, a musical exploration of Australian contemporary works celebrating the power and beauty of our natural world.

If you love classical music, or think you might, come along to the performance on August 3. Highlights will include Elena Kats-Chernin’s imagined journey into the depths of an underground cave, Katy Abbott’s ethereal ‘Stars that Split the Night’ for massed choir and orchestra (featuring special guests Grace Notes Singers), and the premiere of the IWSO’s own George Barsoum’s ‘The Secret Lives of Bushland Creatures’.
The program also ventures beyond our shores, with a performance of Beethoven’s rousing overture to the ballet ‘The Creatures of Prometheus’ and Elgar’s lyrically descriptive song cycle ‘Sea Pictures’, showcasing emerging contralto (and IWSO cellist) Sophie Cowall.
The IWSO, which is proudly sponsored by the Community Bank Seddon, Local Lawyers and Stick It Percussion, is thrilled to bring the joys of orchestral music to the west – and spare you having to drive over the bridge for your classical music fix. Tickets are affordably priced and accessibility options are offered to ensure the event can be enjoyed by everyone in the community.
MYTHIC is on at Williamstown Town Hall on Sunday, 3 August, at 2 pm. The doors open at 1.30 pm and light refreshments will be available before the show and during the interval. For tickets, go to https://www.trybooking.com/DCJRC
