We are super excited to announce that Westsider Radio has found its home at Kindred Band Room! As the heart of live music in the inner west and a space where people come together to share ideas, Kindred is the perfect partner to help us launch this new community-driven initiative.
The west has always had a strong sense of community, a place where stories, ideas, and activism thrive. Now, those voices will have a dedicated platform to be heard. Westsider Radio is all about amplifying local voices—from musicians and artists to activists, small business owners, and everyday locals with a story to tell. Broadcasting live and, recording podcasts from Kindred, we’ll create a space where our community can connect, collaborate, and be heard.
At its core, Westsider Radio is about community participation. We want to hear from the artists, historians, musicians, and passionate locals who make the west what it is. Whether it’s interviews with inspiring people, deep dives into our region’s history, or casual conversations over coffee, this station will reflect the diversity and character of our neighbourhoods.
This is a radio station for everyone. You don’t need prior broadcasting experience—just a passion for storytelling and a willingness to get involved. We’re looking for volunteers to take on all kinds of roles, from on-air presenters and interviewers to behind-the-scenes producers and audio technicians. If you’ve got an idea for a show, we want to hear it. If you’re keen to learn how to edit audio, manage live recordings, or promote content, we’d love to have you on board.
Community radio has always been a powerful way to foster connection and provide an alternative to mainstream media. It allows local voices to be heard in an unfiltered way, highlighting the stories that often go untold. Westsider Radio will be an evolving platform, shaped by those who contribute to it.
So, let’s make some noise together! If you have a story to tell, a skill to share, or just want to be part of something exciting, get in touch. Email us at music@thewestsider.com.au, visit our website for more details, or come down to the Kindred Band Room and see the space in action.
The West always has something to say—now we have the airwaves to say it.
