The inaugural Footscray-Roubaix cycle event took place on Sunday March 2 with one hundred riders taking part.
Thirty kilometres of cobbles and back roads were ridden in and around Footscray. It was a free event with participants asked to make a donation to Asylum Seeker Resource Centre.
Over $2000 was raised on, and after the day. Support came from Westside Cycle Club and Andy Fithall from Grindhog Coffee who kindly donated some kickass trophies. Hopefully this year will be the first of many.
It's hard to find local stories because major news suppliers have economised by cutting local journalism. In addition, social media algorithms mean we have to work doubly hard to be seen.
