2024 has been a year of immense change, growth and challenges for Yarraville Community Centre. The results have been nothing short of incredibly rewarding resulting from the unwavering commitment this not-for-profit organisation delivers to its community, and has done for the last 50 years.
The growth and engagement across the various areas of the organisation’s services have underscored its commitment to serving the inner-west and surrounds effectively. Services which cover childcare, short courses, vocational programs, free workshops along with English and digital literacy classes. Each area of Yarraville Community Centre has held its commitment and standards high, delivering proud results which will be presented at its upcoming Annual General Meeting in May.
In the realm of education, the centre delivered just shy of 35,000 hours in 2024 of learn local, pre-accredited programs, which represents an increase of 25% from the year before. These thousands of hours of learning have been delivered to individuals of all ages and skill sets, with an additional focus on building self-confidence, professional and personal growth. Vocational courses alone, achieved an impressive 80% employment rate for graduates, demonstrating the effectiveness of the programs being delivered in equipping individuals with the skills necessary for the job market. YCC Is a registered training organisation, with nationally recognised accredited courses (TOID 4207).

The rising cost of living has not deterred participation within the centre’s its short courses and workshops. Ensuring unique, affordable and quality classes are offered each term, we have seen enrolments grow by 28% in 2024. This surge in participation, indicating that people are actively seeking opportunities to enhance their well-being and personal development, and are finding it within Yarraville Community Centre’s array short courses and workshops.
These are just some of the statistics which a testament to the hard work of staff, volunteers and the support of the community. The Yarraville Community Centre is proud to be a hub of learning and community engagement, and it looks forward to building on these achievements in 2025.
