New Years Eve festivities at Footscray Park

    Date:

Maribyrnong’s signature annual New Year’s Eve event returns on 31 December from 6.30pm at Footscray Park’s Western Lawn.

Prepare for an unforgettable evening hosted by Myf Warhurst, the beloved broadcaster, television personality, and all-round entertainment icon known for her wit, warmth, and unmistakable presence across Australian radio and television.

The night opens with a Welcome to Country followed by a powerful performance from Boonwurrung Ngargee Dance Group, a dynamic collective of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young women, fusing traditional and contemporary dance styles.

Country Struts will then light up the stage and get everyone moving with a lively line-dancing session, so dust off your boots and get ready to step in time.

Next up is rising musical force, Immy Owusu, bringing his signature Afrodelik sound. His vibrant blend of psychedelia, Zamrock, and West African Highlife delivers pure rhythm, groove, and soul.

And following this, get ready for headliner – the legendary Mark Seymour! Known for his unmistakable voice and iconic songs with Hunters & Collectors like Throw Your Arms Around Me and Holy Grail, Mark’s music has become the soundtrack to generations of Australians.

At 9.30pm, enjoy a family-friendly fireworks display lighting up the night sky.

To close out the evening, inimitable party DJ Andrew McClelland will fire up the dancefloor with a crowd-pleasing mix guaranteed to finish the night on a high.

Beyond the stage, enjoy roving performers, carnival rides, and games, offering plenty of entertainment for the whole family throughout the night.

Mayor, Cr Mohamed Semra says, “This event brings our community together in the best possible way. It celebrates our talent, our culture, and the spirit that makes this city such an exciting place to live. We look forward to welcoming families from across Melbourne’s west, just as we do every year, and I am proud to see locals and visitors share in a night that truly reflects who we are.”

Please note this is an alcohol-free event, and attendees are encouraged to arrive and depart by public transport. Free shuttle buses will run between Footscray Train Station and Footscray Park. Accessible parking is available via Maribyrnong Boulevard.
