New technology paves the way at Yarraville Community Centre

Date:

Digital Literacy has fast become a crucial skill for many people of all ages. Whether you are using technology for online shopping, paying bills or finding essential daily services, tech will no doubt be involved.

As part of Yarraville Community Centre’s (YCC) commitment to its digital literacy programs, the centre has completed significant upgrades to computers and learning resources for 2025 at its Victoria Street premises. The investment reflects the centre’s commitment to empowering individuals to navigate the ever-evolving world of technology.

Being a Learn Local provider, registered with the Adult Community and Further Education (ACFE) board in Victoria, YCC offers digital literacy classes across various sites within Maribyrnong. Participants have the option of enrolling into digital essentials classes from level 1 or 2, whilst working at their own pace through topics such as computer basics, internet usage, online communication and the fundamentals of digital skills. Classes are designed to help students of all ages and backgrounds enhance their skills whilst encouraging lifelong learning.

This year, YCC has made significant upgrades to the computer facilities at its Victoria Street premises. These upgrades will provide the students with the essential tools necessary to use up-to-the-minute software and platforms.

Whether you’re starting from scratch or looking to upskill, Yarraville Community Centre’s digital literacy classes are an invaluable resource for personal and professional growth. Learn Local courses are fully subsidised by the government, making them completely free of charge.

It's hard to find local stories because major news suppliers have economised by cutting local journalism. In addition, social media algorithms mean we have to work doubly hard to be seen.
