Are you a member of a political party, political group, or community advocacy group? (eg; Labor, Liberal, Greens, Socialist, My Place, Angry Victorians, Better West, environment groups, etc)
No, I am not and I have never been a member of any political party, political group or community advocacy group. I am 100% independent.
What is the most important issue facing your electorate?
I’m not sure there is one most important issue, but:
– Cost of living / rates is one
– Keep Champion Rd Open
– Techno Park resident evictions
– Save Williamstown SLSC pool
are the main issues I’m concerned about
Should/how can Council support local businesses?
Yes they should, local business is the live blood of local communities. 1. Council should “get out of the way” support local businesses instead of making it harder.
2. Reduce / remove silly, trivial bureaucracy, charges and licenses.
Should/how can Council support local creatives and industries?
Yes, Allow local creatives free access to the Sub-Station and Seaworks venues.
Should/how can Council help alleviate the impact of climate extremes on local communities and ecosystems?
Yes, we all need to do our bit to help, but it is the State and Federal governments responsibility to address Climate Change.
Should/how can Council help alleviate cost of living and homelessness?
Yes, Councils need to implement a rates freeze immediately, Councils should allow residents to pay rates at a more convenient timeframe than quarterly without penalty.
Councils can assist homelessness with “meals on wheels” but ultimately this is a State government issue.
What should Council stop spending money on?
a. Wasteful projects, duplication, poorly thought out works
b. Implement a pub test on projects.
c. Mega projects
Should the public be allowed to ask live, unscripted questions of councillors during council meetings?
Yes, absolutely. What are they hiding, Councils need to be accountable and transparent. They should also be made to answer questions within a specific time period.
Can you please provide a short personal statement detailing what your priorities are if elected, and what your vision for your electorate looks like.
I want to see a fully transparent and accountable council answerable to the residents and ratepayers. I want a council that is cost effective and efficient. I’d like to implement a rates freeze without loss of services, fully funded by savings made by the CEO. I’d like to see Political parties banned from local councils, it should be run for the benefit of the residents.
