Melbourne City Football Club is a vibrant non-profit community hub nestled in Edwards Reserve, South Kingsville. Established by Argentinian immigrants in early nineties, the club has been a proud contender in Football Victoria leagues since its inception, currently shining in State League 4. The club’s commitment to fostering young talent is fantastic, evident in their recent 5-year strategic plan launched in 2020. With this vision, they have proudly expanded to a flourishing roster of 20 teams spanning from kids under 7 to under 15.
Inclusive to all, they’ve extended their reach to include girls’ teams, buoyed by the generous support of entities like the West Gate Tunnel Project with a grant of $9,500. This grant supports the club’s Junior Female Football Initiative and provides the opportunity for junior female football participants to play and train in a safe and supportive environment locally. Funding was split between equipment purchases and the organisation of a junior female football tournament.
This initiative will provide accredited pathways for junior females to play football in dedicated teams, with the inaugural girls’ program set to field five teams this year, fostering talent from under 7 to under 11. Embracing diversity and accessibility, Melbourne City Football Club welcomes new players of all ages annually. You can join for free and try sessions or even head down on training nights or come watch a game on Saturdays.
And let’s not forget the flavour of tradition! Experience the pride of their Argentine roots as they fire up the grill for authentic Asado and Choripan, deliciously served sizzling over hot coals at every Saturday home match. All are invited to taste this culinary delight on matchdays.
Let’s kick off a season of skill-building and community spirit together!

Thank you for the post.
It’s a brilliant little club with big dreams. Our son and daughter play there and they love it. (And I happen to be one of the volunteer coaches to boot)
Like many community clubs, facilities are a challenge, but witth posts like these recognising the work that the club does to foster children’s sports it can only help increase exposure.
Thanks again, and I’m sure Toby and Kathryn would love to have you down for a visit.
