LOCAL YOGA STUDIO IN BUSHFIRE FUNDRAISER

    Date:

As Australia is facing a horrific bushfire season, Bikram Yoga Yarraville’s dedicated teachers and students came together and through a series of donation-based classes, were able to raise a total of almost $3,500.

They also managed to get their community and local doctors and GPs to donate medical supplies to a local pharmacy which is collecting supplies to aid the vets who are helping animals burnt in the bushfire.

Shaan Lim of Bikram Yoga said “I was truly proud of how enthusiastically and generously my team came together for a cause. The event proved that if we all chip in, a little can go a long way. As a yoga and fitness studio owner, looking after the wellness of my local community is my job. I was so happy that my team came together and we were able to contribute to helping the larger Australian community during a time of crisis.”

It's hard to find local stories because major news suppliers have economised by cutting local journalism. In addition, social media algorithms mean we have to work doubly hard to be seen.
