SEDDON WINE STORE TURNS 10, RAISING $10,000 FOR ASYLUM SEEKERS

    Date:

This November will mark the ten-year anniversary of independent wine retailer and bar Seddon Wine Store. To celebrate that feat owners Jeremy and Suzy Honisett have decided to do something special.

Situated in the heart of Melbourne’s vibrant and emerging inner west, Seddon Wine Store has been providing the local community with great value, interesting and eclectic wine options since their inception in 2008. With a rotating wine collection of over 600 local and imported bottles on offer at any one time as well as an extensive and diverse range of craft beers and boutique spirits the store has become an integral part of the Seddon community. In addition to being a retailer, Seddon Wine Store doubles as a wine bar with an ever-changing great wine list as well as a small but delicious food menu designed specifically to match whichever wine you choose to order on the day.

Since the beginning, the local community has embraced Seddon Wine Store and Jeremy and Suzy recognize that without their amazing support over the last ten years they wouldn’t be where they are today. So with that in mind, they have set themselves a target of raising $10,000 over the next 12 months that they will donate back to the local community, through the dedicated, hardworking organization that is the Asylum Seekers Resource Centre.

The West is a vibrant and diverse part of Melbourne but, as with most places on earth, it has a divide between those who enjoy good fortune and those who are less fortunate. Many people have been displaced from their country of birth in the hope of finding a better life for themselves and their families here in Australia. This is an increasingly difficult thing to do in today’s times and helping these people is a cause that Jeremy, Suzy and all the staff at Seddon Wine Store are extremely passionate about.

In order to reach their target of $10,000, Seddon Wine Store has come up with a range of fundraising initiatives aimed at peaking some interest within the community and in turn raising awareness of the cause at hand. They have teamed up with Four Pillars Gin Distillery to make a collaborative gin and Vinteloper Wines to produce a collaborative wine. Both will be available soon so make sure you keep an eye out on their social media for release dates and show your support as soon as they’re available. In the meantime, drop into the store where they are taking donations, raffling off lots of amazing prizes and even holding a Cocktail Masterclass. Or simply sit and enjoy a glass of your favourite beverage and know that you are helping a great cause at the same time.

The Seddon Wine Store is located at 2/101 Victoria St, Seddon.

It's hard to find local stories because major news suppliers have economised by cutting local journalism. In addition, social media algorithms mean we have to work doubly hard to be seen.
