INFLATABLE REGATTA DROPS IN THE MARIBYRNONG

    Date:

With three years’ success on the Yarra, Maribyrnong River in Footscray is being added to the Regatta mix as more than four thousand people will paddle down Melbourne’s waterways on Saturday 29th February 2020.

Individually or with a rowing buddy in tow, participants are invited on a leisurely one to two hour paddle down the river. Tickets include everything you need to get down the river; two-person boat, oars, life jackets and more.

Starting at the Footscray Rowing Club and ending at Grimes Reserve, the event is pumped up by Melbourne Water with the view to promoting the importance of clean, healthy urban waterways.

General Manager, Waterways and Land, Tim Wood, said “Healthy waterways are a big part of what makes our city one of the most liveable in the world. The Inflatable Regatta event gives people the chance to get up close and personal with these rivers to enjoy them and reflect on the importance of protecting our precious natural environment.”

It's hard to find local stories because major news suppliers have economised by cutting local journalism. In addition, social media algorithms mean we have to work doubly hard to be seen.
