    Helping Hands Mission, Sunshine

Another amazing op shop in our west side, in the heart of Sunshine, is Helping Hands Mission. This Op Shop is super easy to travel to and best of all, has unbelievably low prices!

Helping Hands is a not-for-profit organisation that provides food and other material goods to Victorian families in need. While they do many things to give back to our community, Helping Hands declares that their Op Shops are “the core of [their] work”, as they provide cheap clothing and other material items for those who can’t afford retail prices. They also raises money to supply food and material aid to those in need.

Now when I tell you this Op Shop does not disappoint, I mean it! With all clothes being $2, except dresses and jackets which are $4, how could you possibly complain?

Upon entering the store, I was surprised to see the amazing range of crockery, ceramics and other beautiful nick nacks all around the front room, all amazingly priced as well. I even found a beautiful jewellery box for $1.50 that has found a new home with me.

Now the second, and huge, room in the back is where it gets even better! There were so many different racks with clothes, and so many different sizes to choose from. With racks ranging from a size 6, to a size 20, this store seriously has some amazing things for everyone! I was lucky enough to take home some gorgeous summer pieces that I can’t wait to style.

While the clothes section was fabulous, the shoe section absolutely trumped it. There were so many cute boots, sandals and all kinds of shoes! I even found a pair of Gucci heels and a pair of Prada heels! Both of them, much to my devastation, didn’t fit me so they are still waiting for a home!

Helping Hands Op Shop is located at 85/89 Hampshire Rd, Sunshine. It is a short nine minute drive from Footscray, and just a 18 minute train trip from Footscray station, with a two minute walk from Sunshine station.

Parking at this location is also really simple, with plenty of street parking available at all times.

It’s open from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM everyday except Sunday so there is plenty of time to fit in a visit.

Overall, this op shop is 100% worth a visit, with a great location, great prices and the money going to a great cause, there’s really no downsides.

    OP SHOPPING

    By Ruby Fox

Everyone loves shopping, but with Cozzie Livs, global warming, micro-plastic pollution and overflowing landfills it’s important to find stores that are both affordable and sustainable. The perfect solution to both these problems? The good old Op Shop! For the next few months I’ll be visiting and reviewing Op Shops and second-hand stores from all over the westside and hopefully snare a bargain or two at the same time.
