FREE CAR SEAT SAFETY LESSONS HEAD TO MELBOURNE’S WEST

    Date:

On the back of a successful Road Safety Week partnership, Transurban will again team up with Kidsafe to enhance car seat safety awareness in Melbourne’s west.

Almost 100 parents and carers from Melbourne’s west came out for free car seat checks earlier in the year, with over 90% of the seats checked needing adjustments – or in some cases, total reinstallation.

Common errors that needed fixing were:

    • loose or twisted seatbelts,
    • rear facing seats at incorrect angles or reclines
    • seatbelts or ISOFIX-compatible connectors not connected properly
    • incorrect harness heights, and
    • tether straps twisted or not fastened correctly to an anchor point.

With young children being some of the most vulnerable on the roads, a correctly fitted child car seat can reduce the risk of injury in an accident by up to 70%.

Transurban looks forward to teaming up with Kidsafe in the near future to provide parents and carers in Melbourne’s west more education on car seat safety. Stay tuned to the Transurban website at transurban.com for updates.
