Australia faces critical staff shortages over the next few years, with thousands more skilled workers needed. The Australian and Victorian Governments are addressing the current skills shortage to deliver more Fee-Free TAFE and vocational education places for Victorians. Yarraville Community Centre will therefore be offering free vocational education courses in 2023!
From 1 January 2023 the government has removed the upskilling rule for access to all government-subsidised training in Victoria. They are also changing the once-in-a-lifetime limit on free courses for specified training pathways as well as removing the limit on multiple subsidised courses at the same level.
These changes will make access to training easier for all Victorians and support current and potential students to reach their training and employment goals. Studying now within the heath and care sectors, technology, construction, agriculture, hospitality and tourism or manufacturing sectors will offer the opportunity for jobs in industries that have bright futures.
The Yarraville Community Centre (YCC) is proud to be offering accredited courses within the community services, education and care sectors in 2023 – sectors that are all facing skill shortages right now. Angelique, a past student at YCC, says; “The course I completed at YCC has enabled me to apply my interests and help me shape a new career for myself.” Nicole studied CHC30221 Certificate III in School-Based Education Support at YCC last year and says, “I love helping people, so studying at YCC to become a teacher’s aide is something I have thoroughly enjoyed and have never looked back!”
Melissa Giffard, Education Manager at YCC says; “We believe everyone should have access to education. By removing the financial barrier this will increase opportunities for a diverse group in our community to learn and develop their skills.”
Free training is available to all students applying for the following courses beginning at YCC in February 2023:
CHC32015 Certificate III in Community Services
CHC30221 Certificate III in School-Based Education Support
CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing & Disability)
CHC43115 Certificate IV in Disability
The ‘upskilling’ requirement no longer applies, if you need to retrain or want to pursue a new career, you can enrol in these government-subsidised training courses. It doesn’t matter if you’ve done a higher level qualification, you will still be eligible.
People with disabilities are encouraged to access training at YCC.
YCC is a registered training organisation (TOID 4207) and Learn Local provider.
