While Westsiders are busy social distancing, some fungi insist on following their true nature.
This clump of Spectacular Rustgill (Gymnopilus junonius) mushrooms was spotted in April on the Bay-side of the Williamstown Botanic Garden just inside the fence. According to Melbourne-based FungiMap, Spectacular Rustgill usually thrives in clusters from several to several dozen individuals, but sometimes grows singly.

And, no, Spectacular Rustgill is not safe to eat.
