After three decades of dedicated service, we celebrate the retirement of an extraordinary leader in the community services sector, Christine McCall.
Christine starting her journey at Yarraville Community Centre in 1992, working in administration. Quickly recognising her passion for education, Chris undertook an initial course in community development before going on to university to complete her Graduate Diploma in Community and Further Education. Chris recently also retired from the Adult Learning Australia board after serving the maximum term of nine years, as President and Vice President.
Chris’s unwavering commitment and versatile skills led her to being appointed Centre Manager in 1998 then CEO in 2016
Throughout the course of her time as CEO, Chris championed numerous initiatives that transformed the Yarraville Community Centre into the corner stone of the inner west. Witnessing firsthand the evolution of the organisation from its humble beginnings as a Victorian state school to its current essential services which include food relief, vocational courses, the Adult Migrant English Program, Skills First, short courses, community projects and various sustainability initiatives.
Chris’s legacy is evident in the vibrant community we cherish today, where inclusivity and support are at the heart of everything Yarraville Community Centre undertakes.
As Chris embarks on this new chapter, YCC welcomes new CEO Jessie Deane. The staff and community are excited to be a part of this transition where we farewell Chris and wish her all the best in pursuing personal interests and dedicating further time with family. Whilst welcoming Jessie Deane in adding new pages to the iconic Yarraville Community Centre’s history.
