The inner west is a big place. The Westsider newspaper’s readership spans from Maribyrnong and Footscray in the north, to Sunshine West and Cairnlea in the west, right down to Altona and Williamstown in the south.
We’re even heeding the call from further afield and have recently expanded our delivery zone to include Hoppers Crossing and Laverton.
That’s quite a region to cover, and to make sure we stay on top of what’s where, and who’s doing what, I’m planning a few of these “Editor’s Day Outs”. Yes, I had grand plans to wander around all of our great suburbs over the coming months, just to tap into the vibe, meet locals, and keep on top of all the happenings.
Well that was nipped in the bud pretty quickly, but not before I got to spend a glorious, sunny day by the beach in Altona. I wandered the streets, strolled out to the tip of the pier, and enjoyed the smells of freshly brewed coffee, fish and chips, and to a lesser degree, seaweed.
I chatted to people who were doing the same as me, just enjoying the moment, and of course, took a few snaps, which I am sharing with you now. Wish you were here.
