In response to our story from March titled Footscray Housing: Melbourne’’s missing middle?
One key point is missing…infrastructure! Already roads are gridlocked. No space to expand either…let’s look at the supported infrastructure as well as housing

Currently 600+ apartments for sale in Footscray, 700 apartments for rent only come on market in McNab Avenue in Q3 this year. Assemble started groundworks on old Ryco site this week. Two more towers have been approved in Joseph Road.
The old Forges site though [is] still not attractive enough to begin building. Profits margins are very low. 12% seems the stop point. I see the point of medium density housing but no developers in their right mind will commence a project if government policy is not clear, and new governments like to change what the last one did.

Is the MAB Corp development you are talking about also the one where you have three 20 story apartment buildings next to the State Trustees tower all on a street with one entry and exit

Recycling not up to scratch
I am wondering if anyone may be able to shed some light on why [only] Hobsons Bay City Council [seems to be] taking the lead on recycling Tetra Packs. I contacted Maribyrnong City Council and Moonee Valley to ask if/when Tetra Paks could be recycled through their schemes and received various replies, amounting to ‘not yet’.
As a Maribyrnong CC rate payer, I would love for this council to reconsider its approach to recycling. Interestingly, Planet Ark includes some very slow movement on this issue: https://recyclingnearyou.com.au/about/tetrapak
In the meantime, I’m collecting the Tetra Paks and recycling via a friend in Hobson’s Bay.
