TRANSURBAN AND WESTERN CHANCES PARTNERSHIP SUPPORTS TALENTED STUDENTS IN MELBOURNE’S WEST

    Date:

One of the world’s leading toll road operators, Transurban, has teamed up with local long-running not-for-profit, Western Chances, to support talented and motivated students in Melbourne’s west who are facing financial barriers.

Transurban and Western Chances signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) last month, commencing a three-year partnership and a shared commitment to promote long-term outcomes for young people facing financial barriers.

Prior to the MoU, Transurban has sponsored the Western Chances Scholarship Award Ceremony since 2016.

As part of its commitment, Transurban will contribute $55,000 each year for the duration of the partnership to support Western Chances’ scholarships program.

With this financial support, Western Chances will continue to award scholarships to talented and motivated young people facing financial barriers to complete their education and pursue their career pathway.

Western Chances CEO Zac Lewis said he was grateful to have secured continued long-term support from Transurban.

“For many years, Transurban has partnered with us to celebrate the achievements of the outstanding scholarship recipients in our community,” Mr Lewis said.

“This partnership builds upon those foundations and will also directly support scholarship recipients with access to educational essentials required for their academic journey.

“Just as importantly, this partnership demonstrates Transurban’s belief in the power of education, and the proven outcomes of our scholarship program which continues to empower our talented, ambitious, and culturally diverse community here in Melbourne’s west.”
