2019 was arguably the most successful season to date for the VU Western Spurs. The standalone Australian Rules Football Club fields three Senior Women’s teams and last year all three made their respective grand finals with two walking away with the grand prize.
Despite an interrupted and delayed start to the 2020 season, the Spurs have been working hard to prepare for a new challenge as they join the EDFL competition and look to add more silverware to the clubs name. Preseason training sessions under new head coach Ian Denny have been a great challenge and exciting time with lots of new faces joining the Spurs of the Mighty West. Denny had this to say about preseason and the club since joining us, “You can always count on the girls enthusiasm and eagerness to learn, however, the most impressive piece for me has been the willingness to be inclusive especially with new people coming down.”
